Vice-Dean Liang Jiayuan of our college led a team for an inspection and exchange visit to the College of Harbour and Coastal Engineering of Jimei University, Xiamen Fujian

On the afternoon of May 20, 2024, Liang Jiayuan (Vice-Dean of the School of Marine Sciences at Guangxi University), with team visited the College of Harbour and Coastal Engineering of Jimei University for an inspection and exchange visit, and held discussions with Huang Yunfeng (Vice-Dean), Liu Qin (Director of the Department of Environmental Engineering), Xiao Zhongyong (Director of the Department of Geographical Sciences), Zhong Xiaojing (Director of the Harbour Engineering Teaching and Research Section), Professor Lin Wuhui, Professor Zhuang Yanpei and Assoc. Prof. Shi Xiangmin from the Department of Marine Science.

At the symposium, Vice-Dean Liang Jiayuan gave a detailed introduction to the School of Marine Sciences at Guangxi University and the main purpose of this investigation. The two sides had in-depth exchanges and discussions on the application for the Doctoral Degree Conferring Authority in marine science (first-level discipline), and explore the effective mechanisms for effective mechanisms for joint graduate training.

Huang Yunfeng, Vice-Dean of the College of Harbour and Coastal Engineering of Jimei University, warmly welcomed the visiting faculty from Guangxi University and briefly introduced the basic situation of Jimei University. She introduced the development history, discipline distribution, undergraduate and graduate cultivating models, and employment situation of the College of Harbour and Coastal Engineering. Especially in the application for the Doctoral Degree Conferring Authority (first-level discipline), Vice-Dean Huang shared overall arrangements and practical practices for application in detail. The department heads of the College of Harbour and Coastal Engineering of Jimei University attended the symposium and introduced the basic situation, graduate training plans and unique advantages of their each departments.

At the symposium, Vice-Dean Liang Jiayuan on behalf of the college and Dean Professor Yu Kefu Professor Yu Kefu condolences to Professor Lin Wuhui, conveyed to him the deepest greetings from his alma mater, and expressed hope that he would continue to carry forward the spirit, work hard and staying true to founding mission in his new job. Professor Lin Wuhui expressed his sincere gratitude to Guangxi University and said that he would continue to pay attention to and support the development of the School of Marine Sciences at Guangxi University with his own strength.

After the symposium, Professor Lin Wuhui led his former colleagues on a tour of Jimei University History Museum, college laboratories and office buildings.

Dr. Yu Xiaopeng, Asst. Dean of the School of Marine Sciences at Guangxi University, Assoc. Prof. Zhang Ruijie, Director of the Department of Marine Environment and Chemistry, Assoc. Prof. Zhang Ruijie Su Hongfei, Director of the Department of Marine Biology and Ecology, Assoc. Prof. Wang Liwei, Wang Guanghua, Pan Changgui, and Zuo Xiuling participated in the inspection and exchange visit.
